A$AP Yams -- a founding member of Harlem rap collective, the A$AP Mob -- has died at the age of 26.
Members of the crew expressed their sorrow over the loss of their comrade. However, details surrounding his death are currently known.
Famed member A$AP Rocky confirmed Yams' passing on Instagram Sunday (Jan 18), writing "R.I.P YAMS, I LOVE YOU BROTHER."
ASAP Ferg also remembered Yams on Instagram with this caption:  "You will be missed Bro. We done touched a lot of ground together, landed on a lot of different soil!!! You will always be loved & your spirit will live on!!! #asapmob #asapferg #asapworldwide #yams."
Yams (born Steven Rodriguez) played a pivotal role within the A$AP Mob. He told the New York Times in 2013 that "Rocky's like Luke Skywalker, and I'm Yoda," while Rocky referred to Yams as the "mastermind behind the scenes." He was credited as an executive producer on A$AP Rocky's 2013 debut, Live.Love.A$AP.
Drake, Wiz Khalifa, and Action Bronson are among those within the hip-hop community who offered condolences, via Twitter
